Our Classroooms

Throughout history “naming” objects, places, and people gives symbolism to all things and illustrates meaning. After many years of thought we have allowed the children’s personalities at the Center to guide our decision in naming our classrooms. Their attitudes, actions and behaviors best illustrate what their classrooms should be called. It’s our pleasure to announce our newly created classroom names:

PIONEERS

The pioneer classroom consists of four infants who are forging new ground in life. As Pioneers everything is new and exciting. At this age their brains are developing so quickly and are making paths for their development. They are cautious as they conquer new frontiers, oftentimes their paths are hard but their persistence is fierce. In this classroom infants are allowed to take their first steps in a loving and safe environment that exposes them to all the things they need to develop into healthy children.

EXPLORERS

The Explorers classroom consists of children from 15 months to 24 months old. This is the age when a child moves past the beginnings of observing their new world and explore what makes up their surroundings. Our toddlers have consistently shown a fearless interest in the unknown and the desire to discover how things LOOK, feel, taste and smell. In this classroom everything is about safely exposing children to colors, shapes, sounds,  sensations, stories, adventures and creativity. Children in this classroom will be referred to as our explorers.

ACHIEVERS

The achievers classroom consists of children from 2 years old to early threes. This is the age when children begin to put names to things and grow familiar and comfortable with their new world and begin to create, build and learn creativity while having fun. Our achievers are at a stage in their life where their curiosity and need to demonstrate their accomplishments motivates their every move. They have consistently proven that their will is strong and they enjoy making their own choices as unconventional as they may be. In this classroom they are presented with many opportunities to choose what interests them as they learn through playing, singing, dancing, building, shaping, sorting performing and imagining.

SCHOLARS

The scholars classroom consists of children from older threes to six years old. Conventionally known as “preschoolers” our Scholars are at an age where learning is easy and interesting. They have mastered their new world and have developed a rich vocabulary and imagination that transports you into their enchanted world. Our scholars are natural investigators who are no longer content at just making and building things but are interested in how and why things work the way they do.  They want us to teach them new things and often teach us many new things. The Scholars Classroom is built to challenge their minds and abilities as they begin to learn to read, write, draw and research things that they find fascinating.

DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES BY THE END OF 12 MONTHS

Babies develop at their own pace, so it’s impossible to tell exactly when your child will learn a given skill. The developmental milestones listed below will give you a general idea of the changes you can expect, but don’t be alarmed if your own baby’s development takes a slightly different course.

If you have any concerns about your child’s development, see your child’s doctor or healthcare provider for more information.

The following are just a few of the milestones that have been set for children at 12 months (these are to be used as a guide, remember to see your healthcare provider if you have questions).
